The Newcastle Ocean Baths are a local icon, situated on a wave cut rock platform that defines Newcastle’s coastline. TZG has been involved in the Bath’s redevelopment which will see the upgrade of the pavilion buildings, including the heritage façade and surrounding public domain. The existing Art Deco bathing pavilion is treasured by the local community. It has supported year-round swimming and coastal living in Newcastle for over 100 years. This project will deliver an improved facility that welcomes all visitors in an accessible and inclusive way.

TZG’s project returns the building’s footprint closer to the original size while retaining the original formal symmetry and decreasing the impact of climate risk. The redevelopment will ensure the Newcastle Ocean Baths will be central to local lifestyles for another hundred years.
