TZG has sensitively adapted the heritage listed Middle Head Officers’ Quarters for use as high end short stay accommodation. The building was originally designed to provide two single officers with their own private accommodation, complete with a defensive wall and an unobstructed view surveilling the entry to Middle Harbour. Many of the original features from the 1781 James Barnet design survived the subsequent adaptations. The project involved careful study of the significance of the building fabric, subsequent removal of intrusive elements, conservation works and the addition of two symmetrical extensions.
