  • Country Gadigal
  • Location Circular Quay, NSW

Peter Tonkin’s competition-winning design for the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay, undertaken with Lawrence Nield + Partners, transformed the existing obsolete building into a major urban design focus at Sydney’s ‘front door’.

The project included optimising the building form to allow the removal of the southern portion to create a new waterfront square for the city. Extensive concrete cladding was removed to expose the dramatic steel frame and allow Harbour views from the surrounding streets.
