Hudson Vine
The existing Red Bloodwood tree roots are embedded in the banks of the ancient Blackwattle Creek, once a site of fishing and fresh water for the Gadigal people.
The celebration of native flora, a rare opportunity in this part of the city, is amplified by the Blackwattle Creek interpretive artworks across the ground plane.
To recognise the distinct character of Redfern, we projected an image for Sydney that celebrates sustainability through a sensitive custodianship of our natural and urban environments.
The project presented an opportunity to design spaces that support diverse income streams, ensuring the operational sustainability of the project. These include short-term and event hires, live works, equipped and non-equipped studio spaces, events in addition to education space, creative retail and dining.
