Tonkin Zulaikha Greer led a collaboration with Taylor Cullity Lethlean, Arup and Transport for NSW to develop the Design Vision Masterplan for Circular Quay, one of Australia’s most significant precincts and transport interchanges. The multidisciplinary team explored ways to help this globally recognised location accommodate future demand, improve accessibility and support a better connected and more active public domain.

With visitor numbers forecast to grow by more than 40 percent by 2041, TZG worked with Transport for NSW to produce concept designs for upgraded ferry wharves, ensuring these services could cater for increased demand and greater accessibility.

The work also considered broader precinct options to improve movement, connection and public life across Circular Quay, balancing the operational requirements of a major transport interchange with the experience of one of Sydney’s most recognisable public places.

Extensive stakeholder engagement played a central role in this major public project. Consultation continued across key authorities including NSW Department of Planning, Office of Environment and Heritage, City of Sydney Council, Transport for NSW, Sydney Trains, Property NSW, Place Management NSW and RMS.
