Along with the completion of Central Station in the early 1900s, with its spectacular Grand Concourse, the Commercial Terraces at 372 Pitt Street were at the central ‘glamorous end’ of town in 1910. They were surrounded by the thriving department stores of Mark Foys, Anthony Hordern & Sons, The Palace Emporium and even Selfridges Australasia, all vying to entice colonial Sydney with their imported wares
